Window tracks are dust and grit magnets. Over time, dirt collects in the channels where the window frame slides. Add a bit of moisture from rain or cleaning, and this mix turns into sticky mud. The result: windows become hard to open, scratchy, or even get stuck.
If you periodically vacuum or wipe out these tracks with a brush or cloth, you remove that abrasive layer before it builds up. The windows glide more easily, lock properly, and put less strain on the rollers or mechanisms.
Clean tracks also help with sealing. When the frame closes fully without being blocked by debris, you get fewer drafts and less water seepage during heavy rain. It’s one of those boring little tasks that keeps your windows feeling newer for longer.
